Cherished Teddies, a collection of cute and adorable teddy bear figurines and ornaments gives someone’s message of friendship and love to the people they care for.
The history of the Teddy Bear dates back during the dawning of the 20th century when President Theodore “Teddy” Roosevelt, was invited to a hunting trip in Mississippi and as he stumbled upon a wounded black bear tied to a tree, he was given the “honor” to shoot it but the noble sportsman Teddy Roosevelt refused to shoot a wounded defenseless bear. He, however, ordered someone to euthanize (mercy kill) the bear to put it out of its misery. News spread out and have reached the ears of a political cartoonist named Clifford K. Berryman. Berryman drew an illustration of President Roosevelt sitting side by side with a small bear in a friendly fashion. From then on, people started to manufacture huge quantities of the new toy called a Teddy Bear (with the permission of Teddy Roosevelt) and have been popular throughout the world as children’s primary and iconic toy companion when they play or sleep.
Cherished Teddies has kept up the tradition of the Teddy Bear and expanded its purpose not only for being a toy predominantly for kids, but also as a gift item, figurine, home décor and collectible for all ages.
Designed by Priscilla and Glenn Hillman, Cherished Teddies is considered by many to be the best teddy bear collectible because of its artistic craftsmanship, unique designs, imaginative representation, and thoughtful messages. These figurines reflect endearing and special memories reminiscent to our childhood we always yearn to be in.
